Our Story

Lucy and Richard first met in 2011 when Carillion plc acquired Eaga plc, quickly forming a strong working relationship focused on transforming the legal profession. Together, they successfully pivoted Eaga’s Legal Aid team to support Carillion’s in-house legal team of over 30 lawyers globally, delivering £1.5m in annual legal spend savings. They developed a pioneering operating model using talented graduates, defined processes, and early legal tech—while also championing legal apprenticeships from 2016 to drive social mobility and open new pathways into the profession.

In 2018, they took separate paths: Lucy integrated the team into Clifford Chance post-acquisition, while Richard focused on consultancy and third-sector leadership roles.

They reunited in summer 2024 after Lucy left Clifford Chance, and began re-examining the legal market. What they found was disappointing many of the problems they had addressed years earlier not only remained, but had worsened. That realisation sparked the idea you’re reading today. The more they explored, the more confident they became that they could offer something truly different and better.

Their shared passion for meaningful change, deep industry insight, and solution-driven mindset form the foundation of this new venture. With their combined experience and network, Lucy and Richard are uniquely positioned to challenge the status quo and reshape how legal services are delivered.
